Easy Dhikr Targets to Hit Daily

Assalamualaikum Dear Muslim Kids!

Did you know, if you remember Allah (ﷻ) by doing daily dhikr, the angels mention your name in the Heavens for remembering Allah (ﷻ). How incredible is that?

But that is not all. The words of dhikr are also powerful words that act as a shield for our hearts.

Allah (ﷻ) tells us in the Quran,

"Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest."

[13:28]

Allah (ﷻ) has created our hearts such that they can feel everything from big to small. When something amazing happens, do you ever feel your hearts could burst out of happiness? Or when you feel disappointed or anxious or upset. Does your heart feel so droopy that you just want to stay in bed?

Well not to worry! We have five awesome dhikr ideas for you for every situation you may find yourself in. Equip yourself with these powerful words that pack a punch.

Plant the saplings of Paradise

When the Prophet (ﷺ) met Prophet Ibrahim (as) during Isra wal Miraj, Ibrahim (as) advised him: “Command your Ummah to plant the saplings of Paradise plentifully, as the soil of Paradise is fertile and its plain is spacious.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) asked: “What are the saplings of Paradise?”

Ibrahim (as) replied:

لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِالله
There is no might nor power except with Allah.

Make your scales heavy

The Prophet (ﷺ) said “There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the Scales and are dear to the Merciful:

سبحان الله وبحمده، سبحان الله العظيم
Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, (and) Allah, the Greatest is free from imperfection

Recite these 100 times everyday after Fajr salah and Allah (ﷻ) will wipe away all your sins even if they were the size of a million Tyrannosaurus Rex! InshaAllah!

Say the Good Word

Take care of your imaan by reciting Kalima Tayyibah which is also known as the Good word.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ
“There is none worthy of worship except Allah.”

The Good Word is similar to the Good Tree. It is fruitful, beneficial and beautiful. It is perfect in every way! And just like the Good Tree needs to be watered and taken care of, our faith, which is La ilaha ilAllah, needs to be taken care of too!

Chase the Worries away

Prophet Ibrahim (as) faced many trials in his lifetime. And his answer to all of them was supreme Tawakkul (Trust) in Allah (ﷻ) by reciting this beautiful dua.

حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ
“Allah is sufficient for us and He is the Best Disposer of affairs!”

Are you feeling afraid of something? Have a mighty exam or assignment coming up? New to class? Need to tell your parents about a problem you have? Whatever it is, nothing in life is bigger or mightier than Allah (ﷻ). He is Al Muhaymin, our protector. Sit in a corner quietly or walk off the jitters; whatever you do, keep reciting the above words and feel your racing heart calm right down.

Seek Forgiveness

Q: What is the one dhikr you can say 100 times in 1 minute?

A. The Istaghfar!

It is the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (ﷺ) to seek forgiveness 100 times daily!

أَسْتَغْفِرُاللّٰهَ‎
I ask forgiveness from Allah

This might be a small word but it has extensive benefits. Allah (ﷻ) loves those who repent and make tawbah. Make it a habit to ask Allah (ﷻ)’s forgiveness by reciting a tasbih of “Astaghfirullah” every day.

“If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.”

- Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

Dhikr also helps our brain get stronger.

I can hear you asking, but how?

Well, your brain is kind of like a muscle in that it needs exercise every day. Just like doing workouts at the gym repeatedly helps build our body muscles, doing Dhikr builds our brain power. We focus on something repeatedly and our brain gets stronger. It’s also very good for our hearts because anytime we call on Allah (ﷻ), our physical and spiritual hearts, and our whole body gets stronger and healthier.

And, there you have it. Five types of Dhikr to help you with your worship goals this Ramadan and beyond.
